Portable Air Conditioner Without a Hose
Every compressor AC needs an exhaust hose and a window it can reach. The no-hose alternative is evaporative cooling — and for most UK rooms it is enough.
If you rent, or your windows slide, or you simply refuse to fight a window-seal kit every summer — evaporative cooling is the honest answer. Evaporative (swamp) coolers draw warm air through a wet honeycomb pad and blow it out several degrees cooler. No hose, no exhaust, no window kit: just fill the tank and plug in. They cost 1–4p an hour to run versus 25p+ for a compressor AC, and they are quieter. The trade-off: they add moisture to the air, so they suit rooms you can ventilate — exactly what a UK bedroom is.
